How long have you been with Morris?
3 years and 8 months.

Tell us about your current role and your day-to-day duties/activities currently.

I started my career with Morris as a BDM for QLD. I was promoted to State Manager in December 2023. As a State Manager, I generally work with brokers across Queensland daily, looking at scenarios and workshopping opportunities. Keeping our visibility across the state with our offering and appetite, and working with credit and settlements to obtain a positive outcome.

What is your favourite part of the role?
Finding a financial solution for a challenging application, thus giving a positive outcome for the broker, but ultimately their client.  

Where do you see the commercial market heading in the next 6 months?  
The commercial market is extremely competitive at this time, we have more commercial funders in our space than we have ever had before, so we need to keep evolving to remain competitive. I also believe there are more challenges ahead, with rate, lender appetite, increase in bad debt and the possibility of some funders focusing on their core funding lines, such as property/mortgage, rather than asset & equipment finance.    

What are your interests outside of work?
Food and Wine, Family, NRL, Football (soccer) and Travel.

If you could recommend one thing to brokers when submitting an application with Morris, what would it be?
Provide us with a story on the client. What do they do? How long and what experience do they have in their chosen industry? What will the asset be used for in the business? And so on. This will assist us to make an informed decision.  

What do you love most about your industry?
The diversity of our business and the people/brokers we work with.  

How do you define success?
Achieving results in business and in our personal lives.

How do you balance work and life?  
With over 30 years of experience in this industry, I have learnt to work smarter and wiser to create the right balance for work, me and my family.

What advice would you give a candidate who wants to join our team of superstars?
Make sure you have the right attitude, embrace every day and opportunity, but most of all have fun doing it.
