State Government Business Assistance

In addition to the assistance provided by the Australian Government, each state and territory are also offering specific financial help and assistance for businesses that have felt the effects of COVID-19. Although some assistance and packages have lapsed, there are still a variety of opportunities available for businesses to take advantage of, if they are eligible.

A recent announcement from the Victorian Government means that specific postcodes in Victoria will be returning to stage 3 restrictions. The return to Stage 3 Stay at Home restrictions means that businesses such as restaurants, cafes, pubs, gyms, indoor sporting venues, cinemas, live music, entertainment venues and other businesses can no longer operate as usual up until July 24th at this stage. All residents of these postcodes can only leave their homes for food and supplies, medical care, exercise, and work or education.

Businesses that are operating within a postcode affected by the return to Stage 3 restrictions are eligible for a one-off, $5,000 grant to help them get through to the other side of the local lockdown. Applications for the program close 31 July 2020.

For businesses located in QLD, the Small Business COVID-19 Adaption Grant Program has been extended, with an additional $100 million being made available in order to deliver a second round of grants. Round 2 will open on 1 July 2020 and grants will range from $2,000 up to $10,000.
