More than 12,000 people took part in Run Geelong yesterday, raising more than $500,000 for the redevelopment of the Special Care Nursery at Geelong Hospital.
It was a beautiful day for Run Geelong with the sun shining on runners and walkers as they crossed the finish line at Steampacket Gardens.
The Morris Finance marquee was visited by many throughout the event for water, a hat, drink bottle or just for a chat. It was great to see the Geelong community really get behind this incredible cause.
Geelong’s Brenton Rowe took out the men’s title for the 12km run with a time of 37 minutes and 21 seconds, while Kate Smyth from Jan Juc was the first woman home at 46 minutes and 1 second.
Nicholas Wightman from Ocean Grove claimed the top male spot in the 6km race, coming it at 19 minutes and 42 seconds, but Sophie Barker from Maribyrnong wasn’t far behind at 21 minutes and 54 seconds.
Thank you to all staff and their family and friends that took part in Run Geelong this year!
