Nick Percat Penrite Oil Sandown SuperSprint Preview

Hey everyone!!

It’s race week and this weekend we are racing in sunny Victoria at Sandown raceway. It’s traditionally an action packed race track with crazy weather over the weekend. Racing in Victoria in Winter is always a fun challenge that we look forward to. Traditionally it’s a track that I really enjoy and WAU previously have been very competitive here.

This weekend we are racing on the Dunlop super soft tyre, this is new for us at Sandown. We expect the lap times to be very fast but also a lot of tyre degradation throughout the races.

Qualifying at Sandown is massively important and it’s a tricky track to qualify well. Sandown’s layout with 2 long straights means it’s hard to get the tyres up to the correct temperature quickly. This is what makes getting a good lap in qualifying difficult.

The weekends format is the sprint format. We have 3 qualifying sessions and 3 sprint races. 1 race on the Saturday and 2 on the Sunday. We are also finally getting our Co drivers laps on Friday with a Co driver practice session. I’m really excited to see how Warren Luff or Luffy goes! He is the ultimate Co driver and always has great feedback.

Car 2 has had a big birthday since Tailem bend after we were caught up in the start line crash. The boys have done a mega job repairing the car and having it ready for this weekend. It didn’t look like a big hit but we had to put the chassis on the jig to check everything. Thankfully there was nothing major and we could focus on this weekends preparation.
