Hear from Brand Ambassador Nick Percat as the V8 Supercars Championship heads to the Beaurepaires Sydney Supersprint this weekend.
We’ve reached the final of four consecutive weekends at Sydney Motorsport Park, and to keep us on our toes we face a new format, a new tyre compound and another night race!
I’ve had seven top-ten finishes in the last 9 races here, including a podium finish. I’ve narrowly missed the podium four times and I’d really love to get another trophy for the boys this weekend.
It’s going to be a really challenging event, but one I’m really looking forward to. The Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight consists of two longer 250-kilometre races; one on Saturday night and one on Sunday. Both races will include refuelling, which will be another strategy challenge for the BJR crew.
Then we have a brand new super soft tyre compound thrown into the mix, and the first time we will get to do any running on this tyre will be in the first race! We must use both the new super soft and hard tyre compounds in each race, unless it’s declared a wet race.
I love the longer race formats and I think it’s the perfect way to prepare for the upcoming Bathurst 1000 enduro. Speaking of endurance events, we had a great test day this week and gave my co-driver Dale Wood a lot of laps in the #8 R&J Batteries Commodore.
I’m really keen to finish off these last two Sydney races strongly and go to Bathurst with some good form and momentum!
