On Wednesday 18th September the team visited Beaudesert State High School in Queensland with this being N2C’s seventh presentation for 2019. This presentation was coordinated to coincide with Round 7 of the Australian Carrera Cup Championship.
The N2C program is a unique and revolutionary Youth Safety Campaign with the clear objective of saving teenage lives arising from the tragic consequences of youth violence and road accidents which was founded in 2012 by Andy McElrea.
Beaudesert SHS is a ‘country’ school located in the Gold Coast Hinterland and approximately 45 minutes from Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Beaudesert State High School has been assisting students to achieve their personal best since 1963. The school has a long and proud history of excellence and achievement with an outstanding range of courses, activities and opportunities offered to all students.
The team presented to almost 100 year 12 students. The student wellbeing officer Kerrie East explained that there was a high level of truancy among this cohort but she was pleased to report that most of the students had attended to hear from the N2C team.
As always N2C’s presentation was well received and here is some of the feedback from a student after the presentation.
The responses from this group were very emotional and summed up perfectly by Jet Campbell: “My experience with No Second Chance has touched me deeply and made me realise the consequences of my actions and how they affect others. It has also made me feel grateful to be able to come home to my parents and tell them I love them.”
The N2C team left the students of Beaudesert State High School with a strong and important message:
Make smart decisions and live your dreams Make dumb decisions and there is No Second Chance!
The next N2C presentation will be held at Brisbane State High School on Wednesday 16th October.
