Foodbank were the real winners at Friday night’s blockbuster Country Festival match, thanks to Morris Finance donating 30,000 Meals to those in need.

In a move to help an ever-increasing number of Australians experiencing food insecurity, Morris Finance donated $500 the equivalent of 1,000 Meals for every goal kicked by the Geelong Cats at Friday night’s match against Essendon.
The Geelong Cats scored a total of 15 goals on the night, winning the game against Essendon, but it was only afterward that Morris Finance decided to round up the donation increasing the total to $15,000.
The total donation raised on Friday night will go directly towards the 2,600 front-line charity organisations that Foodbank support assisting 1 in 5 Australians struggling to put food on the table.

Quote from Nathan Murray, Morris Finance Managing Director
“Demand for food relief has increased significantly due to job loss and small businesses closures as a result of COVID-19 restrictions. The work Foodbank Australia does, the commitment to the issue of hunger – it is second to none. Going hungry may seem foreign to many of us, but it is a horrific reality for 1 in 5 Australians. Suffering is often hidden but the reality is we are all likely to know someone going without.
We’re proud to partner with an organisation that shares our commitment to the community, not only do they provide food to people who might otherwise go hungry they also encourage greater environmental sustainability and awareness. It is all about Morris Finance contributing to the greater good.”
Quote from Matt Tilley, Foodbank Victoria Chief Communications Officer.
“As a passionate Bomber fan all my life, never have I been so gratefully miserable to receive such a generous donation crafted around every goal kicked by the Cats. Morris Finance have been an incredible partner with their focus largely around how many meals they can provide for so many vulnerable Australians – in this case, 30,000. That kind of impact is similar to a Tom Hawkins hip and shoulder, right into the mid-section of hunger and need. And there’s no need for a match review hearing either.”
