MFL Sponsored Cat Billie Smedts will stay at the Geelong Football Club after signing a new two-year deal.
The No. 15 draft pick turned down interest from rival clubs to recommit at the Cats last week.
The new deal helps lock in one more piece of Geelong’s list management jigsaw puzzle, with several senior players, including Steve Johnson, awaiting calls on their futures.
The Cats remain confident Smedts can fulfil his potential as an evasive ball-winner and become a regular senior player despite a shocking injury run.
Smedts, 23, has played 37 games over four seasons but has had surgery on his hip and suffered a broken leg last year.
The new deal locks in Smedts to Geelong until the end of 2017.
