Morris Appoints Matthew Luehman as Chief Financial Officer

Morris Appoints Matthew Luehman as Chief Financial Officer, Strengthening Commitment to Sustainable Growth and Strategic Financial Leadership.

Since Morris’s founding 26 years ago, our enduring success has been driven by our commitment to cultivating top-tier talent and fostering career progression across our twelve operating departments. Our robust Employee Lifecycle Model has empowered dedicated professionals to advance to senior management and executive positions, ensuring continuity, stability, and expertise across our organization.

In line with this vision, we are pleased to announce the promotion of Matthew Luehman from Group Financial Controller to Chief Financial Officer, effective Wednesday 30th October.

Matthew’s 14-year tenure with Morris exemplifies our approach to nurturing talent. He joined the Credit Control Department in 2010 while completing his Bachelor of Commerce degree at Deakin University, specializing in Accounting and Commercial Law. Within a year, Matthew moved to the Credit Assessment Department, advancing to Senior Credit Analyst in 2013. By 2015, he was promoted to Credit Manager, and in 2018, he assumed the role of Group Financial Controller within our Finance and Investment Department. In this capacity, Matthew has overseen the external audits conducted by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu and KPMG, while liaising closely with our external Accountants and Banking Partners.

As Group Financial Controller, Matthew has served as one of two Responsible Managers for our Australian Credit License, underscoring our commitment to regulatory compliance and governance excellence. He has also played a central role on our Senior Executive Team, chaired the Finance and Investment Committee, and actively contributed to the Risk Management and Employee Benefits Committees.

In his new role as Chief Financial Officer, Matthew will oversee Morris’s financial strategic direction, focusing on optimizing capital structure, enhancing investment strategies, and advancing long-term financial planning. He will take on a broader remit, engaging with external stakeholders, treasury, IT, and operations to ensure our financial strategies align with regulatory frameworks and Investor expectations, driving sustainable value for our stakeholders.

Nathan Murray, Managing Director & CEO of Morris, commented, “Matthew’s promotion is a testament to our symbiotic approach to organizational growth. At Morris, we are steadfast in our commitment to continuous improvement, spanning infrastructure, systems, technology, and process enhancements. We are well-positioned to meet evolving market demands, with a highly competent team that will continue to drive our strategic vision in the coming years.”

Matthew Luehman, Chief Financial Officer, added, “I’m truly grateful for this opportunity and excited to take on the challenges ahead. I look forward to collaborating with our amazing team to keep building on the great work we’ve done at Morris. It's been a rewarding 14-year journey, and I’m eager to contribute to our future success.”

As Morris continues to evolve and adapt to the dynamic financial landscape, we are confident that Matthew's leadership as Chief Financial Officer will enhance our strategic initiatives and reinforce our commitment to delivering exceptional value to our clients and stakeholders. We look forward to his contributions in driving Morris toward a sustainable and prosperous future.
