Brad Jones Racing has announced Porsche driver Jaxon Evans will make his Bathurst 1000 debut driving alongside Jack Smith in the #4 SCT Logistics ZB Commodore entry.
Evans completed a successful evaluation day, followed by the teams last ‘Pre-Bathurst’ test at Winton Raceway on the 19th & 20th of September.
“I’m thrilled to be making me Bathurst 1000 Debut with Jack and the SCT Logistics team. Every race car driver wants to take part in ‘The Great Race’, and I couldn’t be happier to be given this opportunity,” said Evans.
“Bathurst is easily one of the biggest motorsport events in the Southern Hemisphere, and it’s engulfed in a rich history. I enjoy watching the race every year, and there is an amazing atmosphere that surrounds the event. To be part of it is something that has always been on my bucket list.
“Jack and I used to race in the same go-kart team when we were younger, so it’s exciting to be teaming up with a mate and Brad Jones Racing.”
While Evans has experience driving at the Mountain, he’ll look to draw on the knowledge of Smith and the team when it comes to learning the Supercar.
“I’m familiar with Mt Panorama, I’ve done a couple of Bathurst 12-hour races now as well as Carrera Cup rounds on the support card. However, the Supercar is very unique and nothing really draws a direct comparison. The two days at Winton will hopefully accelerate that learning curve.
“As a co-driver, my priority is bringing the car back straight with no damage after my stints. It’s a team effort, but it’s Jack’s championship. I’ll approach with caution where needed and not take too many risks, but at the same time do my best to perform at the highest level,” said Evans.
The Bathurst 1000 will take place 6-9 October 2022 at Mt Panorama. Catch all the action live on Channel 7 and Fox Sports.
