Jaxon Evans kicks off the Supercup season in Monaco
The 2021 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season kicks off this weekend on the famous street circuit in Monaco.
The international ‘one-make cup’ is heading into its 29th season and includes eight races run as support to the FIA Formula 1 World Championship.
Making it’s racing debut this weekend will be the new 911 GT3 Cup, generation 992, which was recently unveiled in Australia at Round 2 of the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia at the Bend Motorsport Park earlier this month.
“We start the season in Monaco for the first time. Given that we aren’t allowed to test on this very special racetrack and the fact that it leaves no room for mistakes is a huge test for the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 992)” said Oliver Schwab, Project Manager Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.
Carrera Cup Australia 2018 Champion and Morris Finance Brand Ambassador, Jaxon Evans enters his third season of the Supercup, and this year be racing for French based team, Martinet by Almeras. Jaxon has showed some promising early signs being the quickest in several of the preseason Supercup test sessions held at Monza, Italy.
Jaxon had an impressive 2020 season finishing 4th overall in the Supercup and taking out the French Carrera Cup title.
Recently, Jaxon made a guest return to the French Carrera Cup, claiming a win and a second place. The defending champion of the series qualified on the front row for the opening race and claimed a stunning start to beat out the polesitter. This victory was his third win in a row for French Carrera Cup races he has contested.
In addition to racing in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season this year, Jaxon will also be racing in the World Endurance Championship with the Dempsey-Proton Racing team.
