Jaxon Evans and his team are ready for the New Supercup season

International Morris Finance Brand Ambassador Jaxon Evans has selected his team before the upcoming season in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. Evans will race for the Austrian based team – Lechner Racing in his second season of the international ‘one-make cup’ – which runs as a support category across the European Formula 1 events.

In addition to the financial support, all Porsche Juniors receive support and advice comparable with that of the internationally successful Porsche works drivers. This programme includes fitness tests with constantly adjusted training schedules as well as media training and sponsor appointments. Sascha Massen – ex works driver, is on hand as advisor / coach for the Juniors and accompanies the drivers on their way to becoming a professional racing driver.

“Those who prevail in the high-profile field of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup are optimally prepared for a career as a professional racing driver. Many top international talents took the decisive career step in the Supercup and then made the leap to become a factory driver. We are pleased that the talented Jaxon Evans is also part of our high-performance starter field this year,” said the project manager of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup Oliver Schwab. The season begins with the European Formula One event at Circuit Zandvoort, 1-3 May.

Jaxon Evans was already part of the Porsche Motorsport Junior program in 2019. This year, the 23-year-old enters the Supercup season under the guidance of the Austrian team – Lechner Racing.  The team from Faistenau has won the Team’s Championship the last six years and represented the last four Overall championship winners.

“2020 is shaping up to be an amazing year, returning to the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup as a ‘Porsche Junior’ for the second year, joining the hugely successful and current ‘Teams’ & ‘Drivers’ champions, Lechner Racing. Adjacent to this, we will also enter selected rounds of the French Carrera Cup to best prepare us for a strong championship fight. I look forward to working with the Austrian based team and hope we can achieve success together. A massive thank you to my personal supporters and team behind the scenes that have helped pull this together” said Evans.

A break through podium at Spa-Francorchamps followed by a maiden Pole Position in Monza was the start of a solid second half to 2019. Finishing on the podium once again in Mexcio before finding himself 7th in the standings at the completion. The Stuttgart-based New Zealander will also make appearances in the French Carrera Cup Championship as well as selected VLN races in order to gain experience on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.

The highlight of the one-make cup is the joint race with the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany as part of the supporting program of the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans

At Porsche, the promotion of young talent has a long tradition. Since 1997, the Stuttgart-based car manufacturer has been supporting talent on their way to becoming a professional racing driver. Earl Bamber (New Zealand), Matt Campbell (Australia), Michael Christensen (Denmark), Mathieu Jaminet (France), Patrick Long (USA), Sven Müller (Bingen), Julien Andlauer (France) and Thomas Preining (Austria) completed their Training in the Porsche Motorsport Junior Program.
