Holden Racing Team to finish 25th anniversary season in style

The Holden Racing Team’s 25th Anniversary will culminate with a special tribute livery at this weekend’s Coates Hire Sydney 500 at Sydney Olympic Park.

2010 V8 Supercars Champion, James Courtney took the covers of his striking matte silver, black and day-glo red Holden VF Commodore in Parramatta today.

The work of Holden designer Peter Hughes, the scheme features HRT’s 25th Anniversary logo on its doors and the names of each of Holden’s 230 dealers from its nationwide dealer network.

Hughes said he was looking forward to seeing his latest creation on track.

“The Sydney 500 car came about from design ideation back in April; I had a rough concept based around the colours and HRT’s 25th anniversary logo, I wanted to create something different that really celebrated the team’s rich history,” Hughes said.

“The suggestion for Holden’s dealer names to be subtly incorporated into the livery was actually a request from (Holden Sponsorship and Motorsport Manager) Simon McNamara, who wanted to say ‘thank you’ to our dealer network and give them due recognition for their commitment to Holden, and HRT over its 25 years.

“I think that’s a really nice touch, and adds a classy element to what is an aggressive livery – and it all adds up to a scheme we know HRT fans will love.”

Having missed out on driving the team’s popular Star Wars themed livery at Bathurst due to injury, Courtney welcomed the opportunity to unveil the final design of the yearlong celebration.

“This year has been all about celebrating 25 years of the Holden Racing Team and I’m proud to be carrying the names of all the Holden dealers on my car, it’s a great way for me to personally thank them for their continued support,” Courtney said.

“The colours are great, the car looks bold and aggressive, yet also classy, and I think having the dealers included complements the scheme perfectly.

“Being from the western suburbs of Sydney, I really enjoyed being able to take the covers off the car in front of my home crowd, and now I’m looking forward to getting out on the streets of Sydney Olympic Park with it this weekend and finishing the year off on a high.”

Courtney and teammate Garth Tander will debut their 25th Anniversary liveried Commodores when practice kicks off at Sydney Olympic Park at 10:25am (AEDT) Friday.
