For many Australians, the rising cost of living is no longer just a headline, it’s a daily reality.

Across the country, more families are being forced to make impossible choices between paying bills, covering rent or putting food on the table. Foodbank Australia is seeing increasing demand for support from people who never imagined they would need to access food relief services.
At Morris, we believe businesses have a responsibility to step up and support the communities around them. That’s why we’re proud to support Foodbank and its Surplus with Purpose program, an initiative helping rescue quality produce that would otherwise go to waste and redirect it to Australians experiencing food insecurity.
The impact of the program is simple but powerful: good food that may have ended up in landfill is instead reaching individuals and families who genuinely need support.
Through Surplus with Purpose, growers, suppliers and organisations work together to recover surplus fruit and vegetables and distribute them to communities across Australia. It’s a practical solution that not only reduces food waste but also helps put fresh and nutritious food into the hands of Australians doing it tough.

With Morris’ support, Foodbank has been able to expand its fresh produce recovery and distribution efforts nationally. Funding has helped cover essential freight, equipment and treatment costs, ensuring fresh fruit can reach communities that may otherwise go without.
One of the most impactful examples has been Foodbank’s stone fruit recovery program. With most stone fruit grown and processed in Victoria, our support helped fund the placement of large collection bins on farms, making it easier for growers to donate surplus produce rather than see it wasted.
That support has helped deliver fresh fruit to distribution centres across Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales, while also reaching communities in South Australia and the Northern Territory, some of which had not received stone fruit for several years.
From November 2025 to March 2026 alone, more than 143,000 kilograms of peaches, nectarines, plums and apricots were rescued from one supplier through the Surplus with Purpose program with the support of Morris. That equates to more than 252,000 meals delivered to Australians experiencing food insecurity.
While those numbers are significant, the real impact is in the people behind them, families receiving fresh food during difficult times, regional communities gaining access to produce they may not otherwise receive, and growers knowing their surplus is helping people rather than going to waste.

We’re incredibly proud to partner with Foodbank on initiatives that create meaningful outcomes for communities across Australia.
As food insecurity continues to rise, collaboration between businesses and community organisations has never been more important. We encourage more organisations to consider how they can get involved and support programs that create lasting impact for Australians who need it most.
Together, through programs like Surplus with Purpose, we can help ensure good food goes to people, not landfill.
